Meet Ala and Lyndon, the heart and soul behind Moalboal Animal Welfare Outpost (MAWO)! Their dedication and resourcefulness have made MAWO a haven for our furry friends in the beachy town of Cebu. Most of the dogs in MAWO shelter were the dogs they have saved from impounding, and a few feline friends that needed refuge from the cruelty they were facing.
During our recent visit, we were deeply impressed by the shelter's organization and care for their rescues. MAWO boasts well-managed quarantine areas, ensuring the health and safety of newly arrived animals awaiting spaying/neutering or needing extra care. Their push for adoption has resulted in a roster of healthy, loving dogs eager for forever homes. They even have dogs who are already bound to their forever homes abroad very soon!
What's more inspiring? MAWO's volunteer program is booming - fully booked until December 2024. They have very passionate work-away volunteers, and we even met two during our visit who were staying for a few weeks.
If you're in Moalboal, don't miss the chance to visit MAWO! Ala and Lyndon’s love for animals is astounding. They are doing what they can for the animals they rescued. To support the work they do, you can give them donations in-kind (pet food and supplies, cleaning supplies, dewormers, etc.) and monetary support.
